(Dec 11, 2007 revised) Additional revision to the 2008 WTA schedule (earlier changes are described at the bottom of this page):
- The Warsaw J&S Cup has been deleted, and the ECM Prague Open has been moved from May 5 to April 28.
- The Bangalore Open has been promoted to Tier II, and moved from Feb 11 to fill the empty week of Mar 3, and a new Tier III tourney, the Cachantun Cup in Vina del Mar, Chile, has been placed at Feb 11.
- The Oct 13 Zurich Open has been demoted from a $1.34 million Tier I tourney to a $600,000 Tier II, and the following week's Fortis Championships in Luxembourg has been demoted from a $600,000 Tier II to a $225,000 Tier III. This reduces the payout to players at these two tournaments by well over a million dollars.

(Oct 14, 2007) The WTA has posted their 2008 schedule (.pdf version), which is reproduced below with links to most tourney websites. There are massive changes from the 2007 schedule, as the WTA Tour is moving toward their Roadmap 2010 goals. Some of the notable differences from 2007:
- Many tourneys have been repositioned in the schedule, the largest move being by the Tier I Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, which has moved from a February indoor tourney to a September outdoor event--just two weeks before the AIG Japan Open, also in Tokyo.
- Fed Cup play has been moved up in the calendar; Fed Cup I (World Group quarterfinals) is now Feb 2-3, immediately following the Australian Open, and Fed Cup II (World Group semis) is now April 26-27. The Fed Cup finals will still follow the US Open, as they have in recent years.
- The San Diego (Tier I Acura Classic ) and Bangkok (Thailand Open ) tourneys have been dropped from the schedule. The never-yet-played Anda Open slated for Tel Aviv, Israel, which scheduled and dropped due to security concerns in both 2006 and 2007, is not on the schedule.
- The Doha Qatar Total Open has been elevated to a Tier I tourney, with $2.5 million in prize money. The Qatar Tennis Federation is now practically a Tour unto itself; the WTA Championships will be in Doha in 2008 and 2009, with the prize money raised from $3 million to $4.45 million , and they also run the Tier I Qatar Telecom German Open in Berlin.
- There are two dead weeks in the calendar, with no tourneys scheduled: March 3 and August 4 [Mar 3 was later filled].
