The Quebec City draws are not yet available as of this writing (qualifying draws are usually up on the Friday before the tourney begins, main draws on Saturday, sometimes later). The links are above for your convenience when the draws become available.

Two nice New York Times articles from 1854 describing Quebec City, its surroundings, and the river trip there from Montreal, are located at the (newly revised) QuickNews: Canada News and Links, below the story about a rail trip to Montreal.

Quebec City 2007:
On Sunday in Quebec City, in the final of the Bell Challenge, 31-year-old wild card # 124 (and former # 1) Lindsay Davenport from Laguna Beach, California, handily defeated 24-year-old 3rd-seeded # 38 Julia Vakulenko of the Ukraine (residence: Barcelona, Spain), 6-4, 6-1 (Julia's photo is possibly from her semifinal win on Saturday, or may be from her quarterfinal; it is hard to tell at the tourney website... Lindsay's pic is likely from her quarterfinal win on Friday).

Lindsay and Julia had never before met on the field of combat.

Stainless Steel Lindsay, who retired late last year upon getting married and starting a family, and had so much fun away from the WTA that she decided to unretire late this year, is now 53-36 in WTA singles finals. She shows absolutely no sign of corrosion despite playing in only her 3rd tourney this year; her match record for the season is 13-1. Lindsay's lone 2007 defeat was at the hands of # 3 Jelena Jankovic in the Beijing semis, 6-3, 7-5.

Julia was playing in her first WTA singles final; she has won 4 ITF singles titles. Julia has a 43-24 match record in 2007.

2007: At Sunday night's player party in Quebec City, Liga from Riga (Miss Dekmeijere, who resides in the Latvian capital) demonstrated having too much fun-- or perhaps its just a special effect... also pretty at the party were Frenchwomen Severine Bremond, Stephanie Foretz, and Alize Cornet, possibly applauding the vocal stylings of Vania King, who did (not really) sing the Theme from Star Wars, translating the complex Bill Murray lyrics into both French and SCTV Great White North dialect English on the spot... also practicing their pretty skills at the party were Ashley Harkleroad and Sunitha Rao, and unretired former # 1 Lindsay Davenport announced that she would be joining the Canadiens as soon as she learned how to hit into the net, not over it...
healthy young ladies doing the modeling thing at the tourney opening ceremonies on Monday included Canadian Stephanie Dubois, Frenchwomen Severine Bremond & Stephanie Foretz, and Lilia Osterloh, Vania King, and Yaroslava Shvedova.
