The Collector Swedish Open (formerly the Nordic Light Open), once held at Stockholm's 1912 Olympic Stadium, was moved to Båstad in 2009. Båstad has been the site of the ATP Swedish Open since it began in 1948; the women also played there until 1990. Båstad Tennis Stadium is a few hundred yards from the beach, close to Pepe's Bodega, a local restaurant and nightclub. The stadium was rebuilt in 2002 to accommodate the Hotel Skansen underneath the seaside bleachers.

#29 s1 Roberta Vinci ITA d #143 Zuzana Kucova SVK 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3

Roberta said: "The match was tough, just like yesterday against Babos. Zuzana is a good player. She was playing well and fighting for every point. I was trying to keep the ball in the court but also play as aggressively as possible. I also tried several drop shots and many of them worked because it's such a slow court. I'm really happy I turned the match around. It was a great victory for me."

#43 s5 Anabel Medina Garrigues ESP d #34 s2 Sara Errani ITA 6-4, 7-5, 3-0 retired—cramping

Anabel said: "In the second set I just tried to focus on what my coach told me. I was 5-3 down but fought hard and managed to win that. Sara started cramping in the third set, and I took a 3-0 lead before she had to retire. It was a really tough match. I'm happy to win, but I hope Sara will recover."
