Two in a row: In Sunday's Final in Shanghai, top seed Elena Dementieva of Russia won her second WTA singles title in 2 weeks by defeating 2nd-seeded Chanda Rubin of the US 6-3, 7-6(6) (Chanda is shown after missing a shot, Elena is shown at her post-match press conference).

Elena said: "It was kind of difficult today. We're both a little tired and also because when you win easily as I did against her in Bali, it can be really dangerous. But I think just did very good today." (story)

Chanda said: "I didn't have the focus to get all the way through. I had my chances and if I had not had quite so many misses then I would have been able to do more."

Elena now leads Chanda 3-2 in career meetings.

Almost-22-year-old Elena has now won 3 WTA singles finals (Shanghai, last week in Bali, and earlier this year at Amelia Island, Florida) in 7 finals appearances. 27-year-old Chanda has won 7 WTA singles titles (2 of them earlier this year) in 18 finals.

Chanda and Elena may be playing each other again in the Fed Cup Final in November. The US will have to get past Belgium first, but Justine Henin-Hardenne will not be playing due to injury, and Kim Clijsters might not play for Belgium.

The Shanghai website now has some good photos (from the early rounds: gallery 1 - gallery 2). There is still no english version, and the web page translation links above, unfortunately, do not always work correctly.
Almost all Yahoo! photos can be found with a search for Shanghai Open.
The main draw for Shanghai has 8 seeds, with 4 1st-round byes. There are 4 qualifiers and 2 wild cards (# 126 Jie Zheng & # 168 Tian Tian Sun, both of China) in the main draw.
Early round main draw play in Shanghai begins at 11am local time (that is 0300 the same day GMT, UCT, ZULU, 11pm the previous day EDT, or 8pm the previous day PDT).
