    • 20-year-old Ana Ivanovic is shown while pushing her luggage cart at Beijing airport on August 5. 2008 French Open champ Ana later had to withdraw from the Beijing Olympics due to a right thumb injury, but recovered in time to win the Linz title in October.
    • 22-year-old Marta Domachowska and 21-year-old Maria Kirilenko posed at the player party during the Hansol Korea Open in Seoul on September 22. The Seoul title was one of three won by Maria in 2008.
    • Svetlana Kuznetsova, 23, paused for the standard arrival photos at the at the WTA Championships player party in Doha, Qatar, on November 8.
    • Dinara Safina, 22, is also pictured at the WTA Championships player party in Doha on November 8. 2008 was the best year of Dinara's career: she won 4 titles, reached the French Open final, and finished the year ranked # 3.

    • Patty Schnyder, 29, attended the Bali fashion show and player welcome party on Monday, September 8; Patty had a nice time in Bali, winning the title the following Sunday.

    • 18-year-old Alize Cornet signed autographs after defeating Daniela Hantuchova in the quarterfinals of the Pilot Pen Open in New Haven, Connecticut, on August 21. Alize started the year ranked # 56, and ended the year ranked # 16.
    • Gisela Dulko, 23, played paddle tennis on the beach at Vina del Mar, Chile, on February 9. After winning her 1st round match, Gisela had to withdraw due to a hamstring injury, but she won the Fes, Morocco, title later in the year.
    • Alona Bondarenko, also 23, did the runway modeling thing during the the Pacific Life Open at Indian Wells on March 15.
    • 25-year-old Daniela Hantuchova posed for portraits taken by Christopher Leggett in Bali, probably on Monday, September 8.
    • Justine Henin, also 25, is shown at the Antwerp player party on Sunday, February 10. Justine won her 41st, and last, WTA singles title one week later; she also had won her first WTA title in Antwerp, in 1999. Justine retired on May 14 while ranked # 1, the first player ever to retire while holding the top ranking.
    • 18-year-old Nicole Vaidisova held the wombat (some call them koalas) at Dreamworld, Gold Coast, Australia, on January 4.
    • 23-year-old Vera Zvonareva attended the pre-tourney fashion show in Montreal on July 27.
    • Galina Voskoboeva, 22, was pretty as usual at the Moscow player party on October 6. If the wombat appears to be looking at Galina (and vice-versa) perhaps it is because Galina also held the wombat at Gold Coast on January 4.
    • Aiko Nakamura 24, modeled like a pro at the fashion show in Bali on September 8.
    • 17-year-old Caroline Wozniacki had some nice portraits taken, in current adidas garb, early in 2008. Caroline started the year ranked # 64, hoping to make the top 50. She ended the year ranked # 12.
