Na, who was the highest-ranked Chinese player, unfortunately fractured a rib during the season, and later reinjured it trying to return to play; hopefully she will be fit again soon.
    Russian Maria Kirilenko, 19, posed for photos, with an Australian barking owl at Gold Coast on January 02, 2007. The owl unfortunately "wound up on the cutting room floor" to make room for the far prettier Na Li.

    Anastasia Myskina of Russia, 25, signed autographs in Auckland, New Zealand in the first week of January, 2007. Unfortunately, a serious left foot injury Anastasia incurred in 2006 kept her almost completely offcourt in 2007, but 'Nastia, who has been working for Russki TV, still hopes to be able to return to the Tour. At the Kremlin Cup in October, 2007, Anastasia said: "I'm still practicing quite regularly, and although [my foot] still doesn't feel perfect I think it's improving. I also miss the girls on Tour a lot as you become quite close when you travel all over the world together, so it's nice when I see them at tournaments I do TV work for... I'm still optimistic that in time [my foot] will heal fully though, and I will be able to play to my maximum again." WTA story

    27-year-old Venus Williams of the USA hugged the big pizza pan known as the Venus Rosewater Dish at the Champions Dinner on July 08, 2007, a day after defeating Marion Bartoli in the final of The Championships at Wimbledon.
    Ai Sugiyama of Japan, 31, spoke at the players welcome reception in Tokyo on January 29, 2007.
    19-year-old Ana Ivanovic of Serbia met the press in Belgrade on July 16, 2007, to announce the largest-ever endorsement deal for a Serbian athlete. Ana is representing Verano Motors, distributor of Peugeot automobiles in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia, for 3-years.
