    On Sunday at Bad Gastein, Austria, in the final of the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies Open, the 2014 champion at Charleston (and 2009 Gastein champ), 26 year old 4th seeded #20 (career high: #9) Andrea Petkovic from Darmstadt, Germany, defeated 21 year old qualifier #169 (career high: #109) Shelby Rogers from Charleston, South Carolina, 6-3, 6-3 (Andrea is shown holding the hardware after the match).

    Andrea's prize is $43,000; Shelby's prize is $19,400.

    Andrea said: "It's a super feeling, I am totally happy... My serve and my footwork can still improve but I am playing well... Shelby played very aggressive tennis." AP story

    Andrea and Shelby had never before met on the field of combat (pro singles).

    Andrea is now 4-5 in WTA singles finals, and has a 29-14 singles match record in 2014.

    Shelby was playing in her first WTA singles final. She reached her first WTA quarterfinal this week. She has won 4 ITF singles titles. Shelby has a 14-17 singles match record this season.

    Meanwhile in in Romania, in the final of the Bucharest Open, the 2014 champion at Doha (and French Open finalist), 22 year old top seeded #3 (career high: #3) Simona Halep from Constanta, Romania, defeated the 2013 Katowice and Palermo champion, 31 year old 2nd seeded #21 (career high: #13) Roberta Vinci from Taranto, Italy, 6-1, 6-3 (Simona is also shown holding the hardware after the match).

    Simona's prize is $43,000; Roberta's prize is $19,400. Simona now leads Roberta 4-2 in career matches. Their most recent meeting was last year on a chlorophyll court in the 2nd round at 's-Hertogenbosch, when Simona defeated Roberta 6-0, 6-1.

    Simona said: "I really wanted to play this tournament and win it. Today's final was a very emotional one. The crowd was amazing and I want to thank everybody who played a part in the tournament." WTA story

    Simona is now 8-5 in WTA singles finals, and has a 26-10 singles match record this year.

    Roberta is now 9-2 in WTA singles finals, and has a 11-18 singles match record for the season.
