On Sunday at Hong Kong, in the final of the Prudential Hong Kong Open, the 2015 champion at Guangzhou (and Indian Wells finalist), 30 year old 4th seeded #24 (and former #1) Jelena Jankovic of Serbia (residence: Dubai, United Arab Emirates), defeated the 2015 champion at Stanford, Birmingham, Stuttgart & Charleston, 27 year old 2nd (top) seeded #10 (career high: #5) Angelique Kerber from Kiel, Germany, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-1 (photo shown).

    Jelena's prize is $43,000; Angelique's prize is $21,400.

Jelena said: "I had an amazing week in Hong Kong. It's been unbelievable. Hong Kong is such a beautiful city, it's my second time here and I'm really falling in love with it." WTA story

Angie still leads JJ 4-2 in career matches. Their previous meeting was late last month on a Deco-Turf hardcourt in the 2nd round at Wuhan, when Angelique defeated Jelena 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

Jelena is now 15-20 in WTA singles finals; she has a 41-18 singles match record this season. Angelique is now 7-10 in WTA singles finals. Her singles match record in 2015 is 52-20.

Agnieszka's prize is $111,389; Danke's prize is $55,435. The win clinched Agnieszka a place in this year's WTA Finals at Singapore.

Aga said: "I was really solid from the beginning. I think I was just using the conditions a little bit better today, and maybe that's why the score was like that... Coming to Asia I didn't really think I had any chance to go to Singapore, and it's actually been a very good couple of weeks for me." WTA story

That's really what I have to be ready for every time. I was just trying to make sure I stayed out on the court and didn't make it unplayable. I was trying to be smart out there.     Jelena said: "No match is easy; you have to be focused from the beginning to the end, and I just tried to play my game and stay solid and hit my shots. I think she's a doubles player, so it's a little bit tougher for her to cover the court, as I could see. But I think she played well, and it was a good match from me." WTA story
